Orphans Deserve Better
I really like the way this campaign has defined the problem. Even though the movie may be way out in the category of fiction, everything that goes into our brain forms us. And, “orphans” have enough to overcome without main stream media further categorizing them as problem children. We’ve all heard someone say, “my friend adopted a baby and then he grew up and got into drugs….” Sure. That’s true. But, tons of kids raised in their biological family are on drugs too! That thinking is ludicrous. Having been adopted myself, it makes me laugh to know how a lot of America view adopted children. But, when I think of the people whispering about my children and wondering “how they will turn out,” I become downright enraged. But, this is all probably a post for another time. So, back to the point, here’s a short note from a ministry Steve and I really respect and their support of the Orphans Deserve Better campaing. I encourage you to visit the websit as they list a lot of statistics and other information you might find interesting. So, here it is…..
The Christian Alliance for Orphans is launching the “Orphans Deserve Better” campaign – in response to the upcoming horror movie, Orphan. The intent is not to “bash” Hollywood, but to rouse greater awareness and engagement in meeting the needs of orphans. We invite you to join this effort!….
May we be known as a people who do indeed “defend the cause of the fatherless” in ways both large and small.

Take a moment to take the side of those who cannot speak for themselves.
Orphans Deserve Better is a grassroots campaign to counter the new Warner Bros movie Orphan.
However far-fetched some stories are, they can still subtly shape the way we see the world. So when a major motion picture leaves the impression that orphans are damaged goods and that adoption can destroy your family, those who know the deeper truth must speak up.
People deserve to know better. They should hear about the great needs orphans face…the joy found in loving them…and practical steps each of us can take to do so.
“Defend the cause of the fatherless,” urges the prophet Isaiah. We invite you to join in doing just that.
At http://www.orphansdeservebetter.org/ you can
-Build a “counter narrative” to the movie by sharing your personal story of how loving an orphan brings joy.
-Send a message to Warner Brothers urging them to contribute a portion of proceeds from the movie to help orphans.
-Consider ways you can act to help orphans today.
