A Day with Grandma & Poppa
Once every week we spend the morning hours with Grandma and Poppa. We usually go home after lunch, but today was a special day! Grandma made Christmas cookies with Gunnar. They rolled out the dough and cut trees, stars and candy canes. Gunnar sprinkled the cookies with colored sugar and then ate a bite (or two) of raw cookie dough! (Nobody need worry. I ate raw dough all the time and never had a problem with Salmonella. Of course, it could happen but the fun out weighs the risk for me!) Poppa also took Gunnar on two hikes into the forest from which Gunnar came back with boots so muddy even his socks were muddy. Gunnar loves these hikes in the forest to his “perfect hiding spot.” Before our dinner at Wendy’s, Poppa had a special treat for us. For the first time (I think) their town decorated sections of one of the nature trails. What a fun day and a great Christmas memory!
Gunnar was so worn out, he fell asleep on the way home. His sister, in spite of her significantly shortened nap, was lively on the way home. She kept saying, “Mommy. Mommy! Mommy!!! Gunnah.”
“Yes, Graceanna. Gunnar is asleep.”
“uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhsssssssssssssssssssssssssssss… uhhhhhhhhhhsssssssssssss……. (I don’t know how to write the way her fake snoring sounds, so there you go. something like that. ridiculously cute. i know that!)
